Clerk Hanlon is pleased to unveil an original map of Monmouth County

1

County of Monmouth issued the following announcement.

History Preserved! Clerk Hanlon is pleased to unveil an original map of Monmouth County, New Jersey from the County Clerk’s Archives Division, surveyed by S.N. and F.W. Beers and published by Smith, Gallup, and Holt in 1861. The map features a hand-drawn overview of the County and its municipalities, highlighting prominent residents and key structures, such as Old Tennent Church at Monmouth Battlefield.

The map was originally printed on woven paper with hand coloring and recently underwent an extensive preservation process to repair its many tears, lost edges, and liquid damage. This map has been preserved, mounted, and framed for display in the Map Room of the County Clerk’s Main Office in Freehold Borough.
