It is our pleasure to introduce Alice Berman as a “Women Making A Difference” Community Volunteer Honoree with the Junior League of Monmouth County.

Alice is a graduate of Ithaca College and Rutgers University with degrees in Music Education. She taught middle school, high school, and community college music programs, including general music, choral and orchestral music, and music history, for nearly 20 years.  Following her teaching career, she moved into the non-profit arts community as the Executive Director of Monmouth Conservatory of Music in Red Bank, where she served for nine years.  She was sought out to assist in restructuring the Monmouth County Arts Council, which resulted in its divestiture of the Count Basie Theater and reorganization in 1999, after which she served as Board President until January 2006. Alice has served as Director of the Temple choir at Monmouth Reform Temple for 25 years. In the early 2000s, she was elected to the Temple Board and served for a total of seven years. , Alice has consulted with and guided several County arts groups, including the Axelrod Performing Arts Center, Shrewsbury Chorale, Center Players, and Monmouth Symphony Orchestra. Alice became a Board Member of the Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County in 2013. She served as Co-President from 2014-2017 and President from 2019-2020. Her term of office concluded at the end of 2021, but she remains Chair of the Exhibits Committee and Team Leader for the Museum’s Life and Legacy endowment gift program.

Alice will be honored this Friday alongside nine other remarkable honorees at the Junior League of Monmouth County Community Volunteer Luncheon to be held at the Navesink Country Club.
