We are delighted to report that our smoke house project is finally - and beautifully - completed! Among much else, Covid and the resulting shut-down delayed the project for more than a year, put persistence pays off. The soft-toned bricks with the lovely mortar, the fresh pine planks of the door, and the crisp reddish-toned cedar shakes on the roof appear as clean and new as when the structure was built in 1853. Please stop by the Taylor-Butler House at 127 Kings Highway to see for yourselves! The Association couldn't have done it without the generosity of the Monmouth County Historical Commission and the New Jersey Historic Trust. And the craftsmanship and care of mason Sean Whiteley and carpenter Sam Ballard brought the smoke house to life once again!
