As we settle into the new school year, let’s acknowledge the employees who keep our schools running, and are also ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). Despite working in vital roles, ALICE’s wages cannot keep up with the rising cost of goods and services, and these workers are often forced to make impossible choices between competing expenses.
