Monmouth County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement.
It’s 8 o’clock! The #PrimaryElection polls are now closed and the deadline to return your mail-in ballot has passed.
Please be advised that the election results that will be uploaded to our courtesy results page on MonmouthCountyVotes.com and our Monmouth County Votes Mobile App will remain unofficial.
Pursuant to State law, the mail-in ballot count will continue after Election Day, since ballots postmarked today but received within 144 hours after close of the polls will be included in the totals. Provisional ballots will be counted after the mail-in ballot count is completed, and election results will remain unofficial until all valid ballots are counted.
The County Board of Elections, a separate and independent office from the County Clerk’s Office, counts the Vote by Mail ballots and provisional ballots. The Board of Elections can be reached at 732-431-7802.
As the County Clerk’s Office receives the ballot counts from the County Board of Elections, the results will be posted to our website and app.
