Sheriff Shaun Golden announced on Mar. 17 a new initiative by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office – Office of Emergency Management, aimed at supporting residents with access and functional needs during emergencies.

The launch of the Monmouth County Emergency Vulnerability & Assistance Coordination System (E.V.A.C.S.) is intended to help first responders plan for evacuations and sheltering operations more effectively. The system provides a confidential, voluntary portal where residents or their caregivers can share information that will be accessible only to emergency personnel.

“Ensuring the safety of all Monmouth County residents is of the utmost importance, and preparation is key,” said Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden. “The E.V.A.C.S. system allows first responders to better plan for those who may need additional help during an evacuation or disaster. I strongly encourage residents with access and functional needs, or their caregivers, to register, so we are equipped with the needed information to respond more effectively when help is needed.”

Residents can register for E.V.A.C.S. online at https://www.mcsonj.org/evacs, by mailing a completed form to the county’s Office of Emergency Management in Freehold, or by calling 1-877-MCSO-OEM. All submitted information remains confidential and will be used solely by authorized agencies involved in emergency planning and response.

According to the official website, the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office promotes community safety through programs such as Crime Stoppers and educational initiatives for students. The office also manages the Monmouth County Correctional Institution as a secure facility according to its official website. It has been recognized as New Jersey’s only five-star accredited agency according to its official website and operates a correctional institution with capacity for 1,328 inmates according to its official website. The sheriff’s office focuses on protecting residents and upholding public safety in Monmouth County according to its official website, under the leadership of Shaun Golden who serves as its 76th sheriff according to its official website.

Residents seeking further details about E.V.A.C.S. can call 732-431-7400.
