Shaun Golden has been re-elected as Monmouth County Sheriff for a sixth three-year term. He will continue to lead more than 600 officers and employees who serve in law enforcement, communications, corrections, special operations, and emergency management within the county.

“It is an honor and privilege to have been re-elected as the Monmouth County Sheriff and I thank the residents for their continued support,” said Sheriff Golden. “As sheriff it’s my duty to continue to serve all who live, work or visit this great county, as we remain committed to protecting our communities and maintaining the highest standards of public safety.”

Sheriff Golden highlighted several initiatives under his leadership. Among them is the advancement of the Emergency Medical Services Operation – MedStar, which supports local agencies with emergency medical calls. Since its launch in 2024, MedStar has responded to over 12,000 calls with average response times under six minutes at no cost to municipalities.

The county’s 9-1-1 Communications Center remains the largest shared service in Monmouth County and serves as a model for emergency services through technology upgrades and inter-agency cooperation. The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) continues to develop programs focused on disaster planning and recovery. Its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) works to improve readiness for crises.

Golden also leads efforts against drug abuse through prevention programs such as the HOPE One Mobile Unit and supports initiatives like the Drug Takeback Program. His office collaborates with various law enforcement agencies on homeland security issues and counterterrorism measures. Additional priorities include active shooter training in schools and gang awareness prevention.

On criminal justice reform, Sheriff Golden has advocated for changes related to auto theft policies and bail reform. The K-9 Unit within his division is now one of New Jersey’s largest, while facilities like the Situational Training and Response Simulator (STARS) provide advanced training opportunities.

The sheriff’s outreach extends to veterans’ services through a dedicated council, support for individuals with special needs—including autism programs—and training law enforcement on best practices when interacting with these communities. Efforts are also underway against human trafficking in partnership with other government levels.

The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office holds accreditations across five operational areas: law enforcement, communications, corrections, correctional healthcare, and police academy training—making it unique among New Jersey agencies.

Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone stated: “Sheriff Shaun Golden continues to be a strong leader and advocate for our law enforcement professionals and first responders across Monmouth County. Whether it’s upgrades to the County’s 9-1-1 Center or spearheading the County’s EMS program, MedStar, Sheriff Golden has consistently answered the call. My fellow Commissioners and I look forward to working with the Sheriff to make Monmouth County the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

“These accomplishments are the result of the dedicated efforts of employees across all of the sheriff’s office divisions, who faithfully serve the residents of Monmouth County, along with the continued support of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners.” said Sheriff Golden. “Public safety, enhancing emergency services, advancing technology, combatting the fight against drug abuse, assisting our special needs community and veterans, among other key initiatives, will remain our top focus, as we move forward into the next three years.”
