New Jersey Senator Declan O’Scanlon has urged global unity against antisemitism and violence, emphasizing the need for collective action to prevent tragedies like the Bondi Beach shooting in Australia from recurring.
“We are all Bondi Beach Jews,” said Declan J Oscanlon. “We are all October 7th Jews. We are all part of the tragedy of this ugly, heartbreaking moment in our history. We all must now commit to being part of the cure.”
Global outrage has been sparked by recent antisemitic attacks, including the December 2025 shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach and the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist assault on Israel. Leaders worldwide have condemned these acts of violence and called for solidarity with Jewish communities.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, there was a 360% increase in antisemitic incidents in the United States between 2022 and 2024, with New Jersey ranking among the top five states for reported hate crimes targeting Jewish individuals.
In response, New Jersey enacted several measures in 2024 aimed at strengthening hate crime reporting and Holocaust education. These measures included grants to schools and synagogues for security enhancements.
O’Scanlon represents New Jersey’s 13th Legislative District and is known for his advocacy in public safety, religious freedom, and community unity. The New Jersey State Senate plays a role in enacting legislation on public safety, civil rights, and education while collaborating with local and national organizations to promote tolerance and protect communities from hate-based violence.
