The Borough of Red Bank received its first Healthy Town designation in 2025 through the Mayors Wellness Campaign, according to a Mar. 21 announcement. The program is run by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities and recognizes communities that excel in promoting health and wellness.
The recognition highlights Red Bank’s efforts to improve community health through prevention, sustainability, and inclusion. The borough was noted for creating programs that support vulnerable populations while encouraging all residents to participate in activities aimed at improving overall well-being. Services are provided in trusted community spaces, and partnerships with local organizations help ensure programming is accessible and free for residents.
Municipalities participating in the Mayors Wellness Campaign submit detailed applications each year describing how they identify local health needs, organize their wellness committees, and implement actions to make their communities healthier places to live, work, age, and play. In 2025, 45 municipalities earned the Healthy Town designation statewide.
Mayor William Portman said, “Our MWC is taking a holistic approach. We recognize that wellness is made up of so many factors: nutrition, health care, exercise, the arts, and this is reflected by our amazing committee of knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers. I’m proud of our team and honored to be a Healthy Town recipient.”
Borough leadership said this recognition reflects ongoing collaboration among volunteers, partners, and stakeholders who continue working to expand opportunities supporting physical, mental, and social well-being in Red Bank.
Officials stated that Red Bank will continue building on these efforts by fostering collaboration and inclusive programming for all residents. More information about Red Bank’s wellness initiatives can be found at https://www.redbanknj.org/267/Mayors-Wellness-Campaign.
