Red Bank is urging residents to consider making their homes more energy efficient as part of its sustainability initiatives. The Borough has highlighted the Whole Home Energy Solutions program, which aims to help households lower both energy costs and carbon emissions.

The program, run by SAVEGREEN in partnership with New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), provides rebates up to $6,000 for qualifying energy-efficient home upgrades. There is also a zero-interest On-Bill Repayment program available to make these improvements more accessible.

To begin, residents can schedule a Whole Home Energy Assessment Plus for $49. This assessment, conducted by a Building Performance Institute-certified auditor from NJNG, includes an evaluation of heating and cooling systems, water heating equipment, appliances, insulation levels, ductwork, and other factors that impact energy use. After the assessment, homeowners receive a detailed report outlining recommended steps for saving energy.

For further details or to schedule an assessment, residents are directed to contact NJNG’s SAVEGREEN department at 877-455-NJNG (6564) or visit savegreen.com/residential/whole-home-energy-assessments. Additional information about incentives can be found on the Borough’s environmental page at https://www.redbank.site/environmental . Special programs are also available for low-income households through savegreen.com/residential/income-qualified-programs.

According to the program information: “Estimates of energy savings are generalized, and no particular amount of energy savings is promised or guaranteed.”

Another statement clarifies: “Terms and conditions apply. All offers are subject to available funding. Maximum OBRP 0% APR financing for eligible NJNG customers is $25,000. All loans are net of NJNG rebates… NJNG reserves the right, with approval of the State of New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, to terminate, modify, suspend, or extend this rebate program.”

The initiative does not apply to new construction projects and is open only to residential customers until June 30, 2027.

“NJNG makes no warranties or representations, express or implied, as to the fitness for a particular purpose or merchantability of the energy analysis services,” states additional program documentation.

Residents interested in reducing utility bills while contributing to local sustainability goals have several options available under this effort.
