The Little Silver Police Department has issued a reminder ahead of an expected winter storm. Residents are asked to remove parked vehicles from the roadway during active snowfall, as required by Borough Ordinance 10-3.9. The department notes that vehicles left on the street make it more difficult and time-consuming for the Department of Public Works to clear snow.

Power outages should be reported directly to JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (888-544-4877). The police urge residents to call 911 only in true emergencies.

Residents are also encouraged to clear sidewalks if possible, but not to push snow from sidewalks or driveways into the street, since Public Works crews will be working to keep roads clear. The department requests help for the volunteer Fire Department by clearing snow away from fire hydrants in neighborhoods.

Additionally, residents should clear snow from outside dryer vents and gas meters to prevent carbon monoxide infiltration. Checking on friends and neighbors who may need assistance is recommended.

“Stay warm and be safe!” the LSPD said in its message.
