The City of Asbury Park announced on Apr. 20 that the First Friday Art & Sound event will move to Press Plaza this summer, with its first gathering scheduled for Thursday, May 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event aims to bring together music fans, art lovers, and families for an evening of free entertainment and creative activities. Organizers say the initiative is designed as a way for residents and visitors to experience local culture and connect with the community.

Press Plaza will feature live music performances by regional acts including Alexander Simone, Circle Drive, and The Band Palm. Attendees can also expect live art demonstrations and hands-on creative activities throughout the evening. Free craft stations will be available for children while adults are invited to browse the plaza and enjoy the atmosphere.

According to organizers, First Friday is open to all ages with no admission fee. The City of Asbury Park’s Department of Community and Cultural Affairs is presenting the event in partnership with Over the Moon and the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce.

Organizers encourage everyone interested in discovering new artists or supporting local talent to attend. “It’s part of our ongoing commitment to making Asbury Park a vibrant destination for arts, culture, and community,” they said in their announcement.

The next steps include hosting additional events at Press Plaza as part of this ongoing series.
