Brookdale Community College reported a 1.6% rise in in-state tuition fees for the 2022-23 school year, based on recent disclosures, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

New Jersey residents attending the two-year public college paid $8,948 this year, an increase of $144 from the $8,804 charged during the 2021-22 academic year.

Non-resident tuition for the 2022-23 school year was 8.4% higher than that for residents, amounting to $9,698. This represents a 1.5% increase from the $9,554 fee in 2021-22.

Approximately 96% of the undergraduate student body at Brookdale Community College are New Jersey residents. Students from other states make up about 1%, while international students account for 3%.

Data indicates that 98% of full-time undergraduates who began studies at Brookdale in 2022-23 received some form of financial aid. A total of 1,316 students were awarded grants or scholarships totaling $4 million, and 97 students secured student loans amounting to over $517,699.

Among all undergraduates, 7,738 students benefited from grants or scholarships worth $17.3 million. Additionally, 723 students borrowed $4.2 million in federal student loans.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
