City Manager Adam E. Cruz, Deputy City Manager Cassandra Dickerson, Director of Public Works George Phipps, and Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn met with the Asbury Park Homeowners Association last week to share updates on city projects and connect with residents.
The meeting aimed to keep homeowners informed about ongoing developments and provide a platform for community members to engage directly with city leadership.
Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn began the session by outlining several current projects in Asbury Park. These included new beach bathrooms and showers, updates on beach badges, an $11.7 million Boardwalk Preservation Fund grant supporting work at the Paramount Theater, initiatives under Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs, installation of a new traffic signal at Grand and Sunset avenues, art benches around town, a kayak rack at Deal Lake, and plans for an upcoming firehouse opening. She also listed upcoming community events such as First Fridays, sidewalk sales on Second Sundays, Mayor’s Rodeo, Coffee with a Councilperson gatherings, Pride on June 7th, and the Jazz Festival scheduled for June 28th.
Each official introduced themselves during the meeting. City Manager Cruz detailed transportation investments totaling eight projects worth $7 million over five years—including more than $3 million allocated in 2025 alone—with many efforts supported by state and federal grants. Projects highlighted included First Avenue reconstruction; upgrades at Grand and Sunset Avenue; improvements at Cookman Avenue and Bond Street; Main Street streetscape enhancements; as well as photos of new boardwalk bathrooms. Director Phipps explained procedures for leaf pickup and snow removal operations while Deputy City Manager Dickerson previewed additional upcoming events.
The event concluded with an open question-and-answer session that allowed residents to raise concerns directly with city officials.
The Asbury Park Homeowners Association is described as a resident-led group focused on fostering communication between neighbors and local government representatives. Meetings are open to all homeowners in the area who wish to participate or learn more through their website.
