Roof repairs on the Casino Building are underway and are expected to be completed on or about Friday, March 13, according to a statement released March 12.

The repairs are significant for the community as they will allow for further inspections and eventual reopening of certain public pathways around the building.

Once the work is finished, Madison Asbury Retail’s structural engineer will inspect the site to ensure that all repairs meet required standards. A report from this inspection will then be submitted to the construction department for review.

After these steps, officials plan to finalize the existing building permit. This process includes removing all stickers related to previous restrictions and reopening the pedestrian pathway located on the east side of the building. However, officials said that access to “the breezeway,” which refers to the interior of the structure, will remain closed to the public at this time.

The timeline and procedures outlined reflect ongoing efforts to maintain safety while restoring access around this historic property.
