The Asbury Park Senior Center will host a free medicine drop-off event for seniors on March 24 at 12 p.m., according to an announcement made on March 13.

The event is open to residents aged 60 and older from Monmouth and Ocean counties. It aims to provide a safe and proper way for seniors to dispose of unused or unwanted medications.

Organizers said the initiative is designed to help prevent improper disposal of medicines, which can pose risks to both individuals and the environment. Seniors are encouraged to bring any medications they no longer need so they can be disposed of safely.

Free transportation will be available for Asbury Park residents who wish to attend the event. Those interested in reserving a ride are asked to call 732-988-5252.

The medicine drop-off is part of ongoing efforts by local organizations to support senior health and safety. Community members hope that providing accessible disposal options will reduce potential hazards in homes and promote responsible medication management.
