The City of Asbury Park announced on Mar. 16 that it has joined the MonmouthNJ 250 initiative, adopting a resolution to participate in celebrations for the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence.

The move places Asbury Park among other municipalities in Monmouth County preparing for events commemorating the nation’s semiquincentennial. The city will take part in both statewide and countywide activities leading up to July 4, 2026, and has received customized America 250 logos for use in outreach and promotional materials. A framed certificate recognizing Asbury Park’s participation will also be presented.

Mayor John Moor said, “Asbury Park has always been a community that embraces its history while looking boldly toward the future. Joining the NJ 250 initiative is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to come together and celebrate the story of this nation — and our own role in it.”

City Manager Adam E. Cruz added, “The 250th anniversary of American independence is a milestone worth marking in a meaningful way. We’re proud to stand alongside our fellow Monmouth County municipalities in honoring this occasion and look forward to bringing exciting commemorative activities to our community.”

MonmouthNJ 250 is organizing commemorative events throughout Monmouth County as part of preparations for the national celebration. More information can be found at MonmouthNJ250.org or on the City of Asbury Park’s website.
